Not sure if it is still true, but when some of us tested the actual length of enchantments with 19% vs 20% on a staff mod there was no difference at all, but that was done pre-nf and without looking at the effect of enchantment enhancement from other spells - i.e. blessed aura. I used to hand out 19% enchant staffs all the time when kurzick faction farming, back in the day = shadow form ran out at the exact same moment either way..

I think as a general rule, getting rich in GW is more about making do with non-flashy stuff and being thrifty rather than finding some crazy farm that nets you super-cash.

Oh i found a nice weapon with a +29, +19%, 14^50, +4^50 etc and it's a merch.. That one more little number and it's a salvage and store for a rainy day.. It really shouldn't make so much of a difference but if we all settled for second best there would be no drive to make things bigger and better.. It's that competitive nature in us all.

Because small numbers (when added) do matter. Lots of times I was left with 1hp. If I had +29 hp instead of +30, I'd be dead

Because of the simple little fact that it IS a skill > equipment you have people wanting equal gear to everyone else, especially if you're going to go PvP. If you give up even a few points of something here and there then you actually are giving up something fairly substantial in the long run.

Everyone else has perfect.
Perfect is cheap.
Get perfect to even things out.

If you had to choose between a hand missing one finger, or a hand with five fingers which would you pick? Sure a 3 finger 1 thumb hand can still grab things just fine, but... wouldn't you rather have all 5?

Why wouldn't you? If you're going to buy something, are you going to buy something that isn't perfect and you'd replace eventually, or would you buy the max (which isn't really expensive nowadays) and never have to buy another? Unless you're just starting out, it's far better just to buy the one time purchase than waste money on some temp mod and then buy a perfect later anyway.

Some of us like to kit out our PvE characters in perfect equipment and use them in PvP with the exact same equipment and skills as we would use on a PvP character. Note that this is different from the people who use sub-par PvE equipment in PvP, they're called idiots.

That missing 1hp bugs me.

Elitest?

Yes.

Why?

Because I'm worth it

That's pretty much it for me. What else is there to spend money on?

Oh, and I also hate having uneven health. I like nice solid numbers like 600. I don't like seeing '599.'

Different between perf and slightly unperf mods is negligible these days.. If you have the cash, why not pay a few extra k?

Precisely. The OCD comes out in all of us.

Doesn't bother me. I have swords and shields with 28-29 HP. I sell max ones, cause I care about money more than my survival. That's why I've got 5500+ deaths!

Most people merch non-max as it is too hard to sell for something that fetches so little. If I could put a 14>50 in an auction house and have it sold automatically in an hour, I'd be happy to sell the things. However when it took me over a week to sell a 20/20 sundering mod for the going price, I'm not going to waste much time for an extra 100gp.

For my own use, off the weapons I found... missing 1 or 2hp isn't much different. If I come across a perfect mod, I'll tend to change it or if it really doesn't bother me for now, I'll sell it for a bit more cash.

My necro's still running with a -5/19% on his shield and +29hp. Can't be bothered changing the things.

However, when I BUY something off someone else, I'll tend to go to perfect mods though.

Because having 619 health annoys me.
